Hi everyone. and hopefully other rangers who stumble upon this site. I'm Sajora and have been a Ranger since 1998. Avalon was my very first MUD and I was smitten but it wasn't until I was introduced to the harsher realities by being stripped and overall stomped on that I had a strong desire to learn how to fight.
I didn't have any trainers or teachers really and the process of learning was a slow one of trial and error and pestering good fighters of other professions for whatever tips they could give. I enjoyed it immensely and would still charge out there and fight anybody I could at any size with no equipment if anything just to get the jitters out. My hands would shake horribly every time I got jumped and once I finally got past the panic stage I loved taking control back by being the aggressor.
I struggled with fighting for about 6 years until finally things just started to "click" and started to have more and more success and over the years have developed a slew of tactics for different situations and even for individual players.
Here is a quick resume.
I've won multiple gems and competed in the last ordination. I have been Justice Minister of every city I was a citizen of and Guildmaster off and on for a time. My strengths have been my offensive speed and quarterbacking group fights.
Currently I'm inactive in the lands due to time constraints but training other Rangers how to fight has always been one of my greatest joys and I hope this blog will be a good resource for that and to get my ideas out. My goal is to get other rangers fighting ready a lot quicker then the 6 years it took me and while the quickest way to learn is to get out there and fight the biggest meanest enemies you can I hope to post theories and stradegies as well as ideas of streamlining your settings to have the most success.
Avalon is going through a big transition right now with the specialty skill sets as well as globestaves which add a new dimension to fighting. Because I'm inactive some of my ideas may end up becoming a bit outdated until I play again and get my hands on the new abilities. If anyone has specific questions or tips for fighting specific players feel free to let me know.
I will warn you that writing and grammar aren't my strong points so you may be faced with some disjointed ideas and typos. Don't hold it against me too hard ;)
